The Campervan Insulation Guide

Before you look to order your campervan insulation products:

1) Select the correct campervan insulation:  Which thickness campervan insulation can be fitted within each area of the campervan?

We stock thousands of meters of acoustic and thermal insulation for campervans and conversions, ensuring you find the right fit for your specific build. Since every campervan conversion is unique, the ideal insulation may vary.

To prevent condensation issues, we do not recommend using water-absorbent insulation directly on metal panels, as this can lead to moisture retention, interior panel rot, and corrosion.

2) Decide on the required thermal insulation properties of your campervan?

Many campervan converters prefer using our 6mm Closed Cell Foam for floors and side panels in standard conversions. However, more are now opting for 20mm Closed Cell Foam Insulation and GlassMAT HR for side panels or even SOShield 20mm or SOShield 30mm, thanks to their superior acoustic and thermal performance.

These high-performance insulation options fit easily in most areas and provide long-term benefits, including better heat retention, improved efficiency, and reduced heating costs—making your campervan more comfortable in all seasons.

3) How acoustically refined would you like your camper?

You can provide your camper with a very high level of refinement with very little additional costs.  Adding PeaceMAT XR prior to fitting our Closed Cell Insulation layer will reduce panel resonance.  Many of our clients now opt for our PeaceMAT XXX  (video link) campervan sound deadening laminate to stop excessive noise transfer into the campervan. 

4) Ensure you fully utilise your campervan insulation budget! Fit the best campervan thermal insulation products to the roof and the best campervan soundproofing products on the floor. 

This will provide you with the best results whilst optimising your campervan insulation budget.  If you use laminate insulation products on the floor of your campervan and high performance heat reflective insulation products on the roof the results will be further enhanced.
